- He was born on October 12, 1981, in Turkey's capital city, Ankara. All fans know this — but did you know it was a Monday?
- His family is originally from Tercan, Erzincan in Eastern Turkey.

He graduated with a degree in History from the Faculty of History, Geography, and Languages at Ankara University.

He is a self-taught actor. In 2004, he won the “Stars of Turkey” competition, and that’s how his acting career began.
- His most famous roles are Kerim in "Fatmagul’un Sucu Ne?" (What is Fatmagul’s Fault?) and Omer in "Kara Para Ask" (Black Money Love). All his films and series are listed in PROJECTS.
- He’s known as the man with the most beautiful gaze — and truly, to fully appreciate it, you need to see him "in action."
- Engin is also known for his beautiful "velvety" voice. You can listen to him reciting Orhan Veli's poem - "I'm listening to Istanbul".

He’s not a typical celebrity; since the beginning of his career, he’s tried to stay away from media attention and rarely appears in headlines.

- He likes cats and has a female cat named Sefa, who — as he said in a 2019 interview — found him. In a 2021 interview while working on the series "Sefirin Kızı" (The Ambassador’s Daughter), he had a cat companion named Feyyaz. We do not know where the cat is now. Engin couldn’t bring him home out of concern that the two cats might not get along, but he promised he wouldn't leave him alone.
- He likes orchids (especially white ones).

In his free time, he enjoys reading and can be spotted in cafés on the Asian side of Istanbul, especially in the Fenerbahçe and Suadiye neighborhoods.

Even though he lives fairly close to the Fenerbahçe football stadium, he is actually a fan of the Beşiktaş team.

Some of these stories were published as books. The first book was titled “Sessizlik” (Silence). The proceeds from the book were donated to the Darüşşafaka charity foundation. He recently released another collection of stories titled “Zamansız” (Timeless). Just like with the first book, the profits will go to charity — this time to the Turkish Spinal Cord Injury Association (Türkiye Omurilik Felçlileri Derneği).
- Among his close friends are İdil Hafızoğlu and Yasin Öksüz from Kafasına Göre, actors Burak Tamdoğan and Ahmet Tansu Taşanlar, composer Toygar Işıklı, and colleagues from the Artistanbul agency, with whom he often spends holidays and goes on short New Year’s and summer getaways.

- Just as he avoided social media, he also stayed away from advertising. It wasn’t until 2021 that he agreed to take part in a Shell ad campaign — because he felt the campaign aligned with his values.
- In 2025, he took part in another advertising campaign for the tourist platform Go Turkiye - it was a 10-episode mini series Istanbul My Love which advertised Istanbul.
